The Sportlight: Lax

Lacrosse can be a brutal sport, and its terminology reflects that.

The little point at the base of players’ nets, where right where the stick begins is called the throat. On the field, lax players frequently bash their throats together.

Each team has three “attackmen,” because “offense” just isn’t quite hardcore-sounding enough.

Modern teams use a small rubber ball for the sport, but the laxers of old used to hurl wooden balls across the field to and at each other.

Lacrosse at WKU isn’t too violent, but I wouldn’t cross these laxers if I were you. Take a look below.
