On Tuesday, Nov. 19, WKU hosted the Hilltopper Family Fall Gathering inside the Commons, a Thanksgiving themed get together to express gratitude before the end of the semester and finals week.
The gathering featured sweet treats such as cookies, brownies, warm apple cider, water and tables for mingling. The sound of smooth autumn instrumental jazz was playing to fit into the spirit of the season.
President Timothy Caboni said he worked alongside the Student Government Association leadership and university event staff to make this event possible and allow members of the WKU community to come together.
Caboni said Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for the community to celebrate the things they’re thankful for. He said that doing this event a week before Thanksgiving is a perfect opportunity to say thanks to all those on the Hill.
“This gives us a chance to say thank you to our faculty and staff for all they do for our university and thank you to our students for being part of the community,” Caboni said. “It’s a celebration of what makes this place so special.”
Caboni said this event served as a celebration of what makes our university so special.
“I think it takes an army to keep a university thriving,” Director of Campus and Community Events Rachel Goodman said.
With the end of the semester approaching, Caboni said he wishes the best to students preparing for exams and gearing up to head home until next year.
“I hope that students have a safe trip home for Thanksgiving if they’re going home,” Caboni said. “We look forward to having y’all back in the spring.”
