3 drinks to try this Valentine’s Day

Nothing says “Happy Valentine’s Day” like a bottle of tequila, right? Here at the Talisman, we think so. In the spirit of true love, we’ve compiled and adapted the recipes for two tequila-based cocktails and one mocktail for you and yours to enjoy this Valentine’s Day. Cheers! 

ROSY-CHEEKED 

A pomegranate-grapefruit cocktail with a ginger twist

1 ½ ounces tequila 

2 ounces red grapefruit juice 

1 ounce pomegranate juice 

3 ounces ginger beer 

1 ½ tablespoons ginger juice 

¼ of a fresh grapefruit, juiced

Optional, 1 handful fresh pomegranate seeds

Optional, 1 sprig of rosemary

Prepare a glass with ice. 

Pour in tequila, red grapefruit juice, fresh grapefruit juice, pomegranate juice, ginger juice and ginger beer. Stir to combine. 

For optional garnish, top with additional ice, pomegranate seeds and a sprig of rosemary.

LOVE ON TOP 

Sweet strawberry, tangy lemonade and agave tequila combine for a strawberry margarita

3-4 strawberries

1 ½ – 2 ounces tequila 

3 ounces strawberry lemonade 

½ of a fresh lemon, juiced

¼ of a fresh lime, juiced 

Dash of salt

Cut strawberries in half, then cut a triangle into the top of the strawberry. Round off flat edges in the shape of a heart and place in glass.

Prepare a glass with ice. 

Pour in tequila, strawberry lemonade, fresh lemon and lime juice. Stir to combine. 

Finish with a dash of salt. For optional garnish, top with strawberry hearts.

PEAR-FECT TO ME

Skip the liquor and blend berry flavors with fresh pear for this sparkling mocktail. 

12 ounces berry-flavored water 

1 – 2 cups chilled pear juice

1 tablespoon club soda 

Splash of cherry grenadine 

1 fresh pear 

15 – 20 fresh raspberries

Peel fresh pear and cut into 8 – 10 slices. 

Combine pear slices and whole raspberries in a small mixing bowl. Using a fork, mash the pear and raspberries until well combined. Place in the fridge to chill for 15 – 20 minutes. 

After 15 – 20 minutes, scoop the mashed pear and raspberries into the bottom of a glass. 

Add enough pear juice to reach halfway up the glass. Then, pour in the berry-flavored water. Finish with cherry grenadine and club soda. Stir to combine.

For optional garnish, top with leftover whole raspberries.
