4 spooky snacks for Halloween

Having a scary-movie-watching marathon with your friends? Need a snack on the way to class? Are you just a little too pumped for Halloween? Have no fear, here are some yummy snacks to keep your belly from growling as you walk up the Hill. So, get excited for the holidays with these quick and easy munches!

 


Mini Caramel Apples

Ingredients:

Granny Smith apples

Caramel (The Caramel Apple Wrap by Concord Foods is great in a pinch)

Toppings of choice (nuts, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, etc.)

Directions:

1. If using the Caramel Apple wrap, preheat oven to 200 degrees.

2. Using a melon baller, create small balls from your apples.

3. Cut the wrap to fit the small apple balls and wrap around.

4. Insert cake pop sticks into the apple balls.

5. Make caramel or follow directions on the Caramel Apple Wrap package.

6. Add your favorite topping and refrigerate.


Festive Pretzel Sticks

Ingredients:

Large pretzel rods

White melting chocolate

Toppings of choice (nuts, sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, etc.)

Directions:

1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt about 8 ounces of white chocolate in a microwave. Stir until there are no chunks.

2. Dip pretzel rods into the melted white chocolate.

3. Sprinkle on or dip pretzels into desired toppings.

4. Place sticks on waxed paper and let cool.

5. Bag ’em for a mid-day treat.


Strawberry Ghouls

Ingredients:

Fresh, clean strawberries

White melting chocolate

Candy eyes

Mini semisweet chocolate chips

Directions:

1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt about 8 ounces of chopped white chocolate in a microwave. Stir until there are no chunks.

2. Dip strawberries in the chocolate and place on waxed paper.

3. Place on candy eyes and a mini chocolate chip as the mouth immediately.

4. Refrigerate until you’re ready to eat.


Apple Grins

Ingredients:

Red apples, cored and sliced

Peanut butter

Mini marshmallows (or raisins for a healthier, vegetarian/vegan option)

Directions:

1. Slice apples into equal pieces.

2. Spread peanut butter on one side of each half.

3. Place a line of mini marshmallows on top of the peanut butter on one slice.

4. Place the other slice on top with the peanut butter facing the marshmallows.
