Challenge accepted: WKU ROTC goes to Fort Knox for annual competition

On Saturday, Nov. 2, a team of WKU ROTC cadets participated in day two of the annual Ranger Challenge in Fort Knox. Cadets spent three days competing against other ROTC teams across the 7th Brigade, or the eastern region of the US Army Cadet Command.

According to Ian Ives, Media Relations Officer for U.S. Army Cadet Command, each team will face a specific task at each mission site throughout the course.

“Most of the stations are designed to mentally or physically stress them to impair their leadership abilities and assess how well they perform after,” Ives said.

The top two teams from each brigade will compete in the West Point, New York national competition.

WKU scored in the top 75% out of 38 teams, according to WKU team captain Caleb Dixon. Talisman photographers Lindsey McIntosh, Lauren Howe, and Kayden Mulrooney made the trek to Fort Knox to document WKU’s participation in the Bravo course of the 7th Brigade Ranger Challenge.
