What do you get when you combine over 700 people, mud pits and 26 obstacles? You get the Family Enrichment Center’s 13th annual “Mud Happens, One Bad Mud Run!” Held on Saturday, Aug. 23, the 5K boasted 26 different obstacles ranging from climbing and jumping to wading and splashing. The event also brought together members of the community to support the Family Enrichment Center, an organization dedicated to preventing child abuse and supporting families.
Dena Nelsen, a board member of the Family Enrichment Center and event volunteer, said her favorite part of the 5K was the “mountain” of mud right before the finish line.
“The Enrichment Center does so much to help the community, prevent child abuse and educate parents about ways to help their children,” Nelsen said. “That’s why I like being involved.”
