It’s late at night (well, technically it’s morning). Your brain is scattered, and you feel stuck, because you’ve been studying for hours without making any real progress.
Student experiences like this one are all too common, but they don’t have to be. Rather than continuing down a path of confusion, many WKU undergrads are turning to a tutoring platform called CramBetter for help.
CramBetter is unique in the tutoring space because it offers help for WKU classes like physics, chemistry and calculus on demand, 24/7. This means even last-minute crammers and night owls can benefit.
But CramBetter isn’t just for studying the night before the test. The company offers study guides, concise explanations from expert tutors and tailored practice exams with video solutions for 13 WKU courses in physics, chemistry and calculus. The material contained in each CramBetter course matches the contents of WKU syllabi, ensuring that students are studying the right material for exams, rather than wading through a textbook haphazardly.

The WKU tutoring service is rapidly gaining ground, especially with pre-health and engineering students. From 2024 to 2025, CramBetter has seen a 120% increase in new student enrollments — more than doubling its pace of growth at WKU.
Steven Keys and Marty Parks, the co-founders of CramBetter, got started over a decade ago as independent physics and math tutors at the University of Florida. Keys noticed that the demand for tutoring often exceeded the supply when he had to turn students away by the dozen as his tutoring schedule filled up each semester. CramBetter’s unique online platform has solved this problem.
“The coolest thing about CramBetter is that our team can now help thousands of students instead of just dozens, and we can do so at a tiny fraction of the cost compared to traditional hourly tutoring sessions. It’s a win-win,” said Keys.
“With our service, you get an expert tutor with a master’s degree for $40 per month instead of a student tutor for $40 or more per hour,” Keys said. “Instead of planning around someone else’s schedule, you can come study with us 24/7, and you’ll get extra resources that other tutors don’t provide, including study guides and practice exams.”
All CramBetter tutors at WKU hold a master’s degree or higher and have a minimum of eight years of teaching experience.
Due to increased demand, CramBetter is adding more support for WKU science and math classes — the most recent being Organic Chemistry 1 (CHEM 240), added in August of 2025.
“It’s easily accessible, and instead of going to a tutor, you can do it from your dorm,” WKU student and CramBetter user, Lucas Keown said.
“CramBetter helps you focus on what’s really important for your exams, so you can learn more in less time,” Keys said after hearing from his students who’ve used CramBetter to prepare for their exams.

CramBetter provides details, study guides, practice exams and video solutions to reinforce what students have learned.
“CramBetter helped make my Calculus 1 and Chemistry 2 classes more understandable. The study guides and quizzes help me a lot, too,” Keown said.
“I think students new to learning about CramBetter would be interested. The tutors are always available, and you don’t have to worry about tutors being unavailable all the time,” Keown said.
Now that students don’t need to worry about the availability of one-on-one WKU tutors, they have an opportunity to focus on studying more efficiently. CramBetter’s videos are short, filled with accessible knowledge and have a humorous element so that clients have an entertaining and knowledgeable experience.
The students of General Chemistry (CHEM 120), CramBetter’s most in-demand class, are not the only ones who can benefit from this program. CramBetter is available for 13 WKU courses as of October 2025, including physics, calculus and chemistry.
