Classic Americana styles are reflected in spring fashion choices among WKU students on campus. Denim and white fabrics, paired with gold accessories and leather footwear, appear frequently as the season transitions to warmer weather.
Talisman photographer Brennan Campbell journeyed to the top of the Hill on Friday, April 10 to photograph five students dressing for the season.
The students

Olyvia Cool, senior graphic design major with a certificate in User Experience and a minor in American Sign Language studies, works part-time as a shift leader at Spencer’s Coffee.
Cool said she borrowed her shirt from one of her roommates and picked it because of its colors. She said she enjoys merging different styles.
“I love wearing oversized things and mixing it with stuff that’s more dainty, like how the shirt is oversized but has lace accents or wearing boots with knit socks or bows,” Cool said.

Hannah Wiles, a freshman agricultural major with a concentration in horticulture, said her outfit was inspired by a picnic, and the light colors and flowers throughout her outfit reminded her of spring flowers.
Senior Mallory McCarthy, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts with a concentration in animation and a minor in painting, said via text that colorful pants have been something she’s been into recently.
She said that her top is from one of her friends and that McCarthy got it during a clothing swap.
“We all do clothing swaps, and it helps encourage us not to buy new clothes, but just repurpose clothing our friends don’t want,” McCarthy said.

Makenzie McIntyre, senior interior design major, said her outfit was inspired by her favorite spring activity, picnics. McIntyre said that she tried to pick pieces that reminded her of picnicking in some way.
Mallory Lanham, a history and art history major, said via text that she wanted to try something with clothes that she doesn’t always wear.
“What drew me to the shirt specifically was the little teacup details, because being a barista and working with coffee and tea is something that I love and am fascinated to learn more about,” Lanham said.
