Bowling Green native Emma Kate Nalley is a freshman exercise science major and manager at the SoKY Ice Rink. She said that this year, for her, marks three years since working at the ice rink.

Nalley said the annual SoKY Ice Rink happens between the months of December to the end of January. She said that the ice rink holds up to 175 people.

SoKY Ice Rink’s sponsors include several local businesses, the main ones being Wiesemann Orthodontics and Warren County Public Library, Nalley said. According to SoKY Ice Rink’s website, several of their sponsors are listed with the option for a business to be included as a sponsor.

According to their website, WKU students and military and emergency responders get a $2 discount on Thursdays with a valid ID.

Nalley said that having an outdoor ice skating rink is not really expected here in Bowling Green. She said the rink invites people of all ages to come together.

“I think it’s also just a time to come together, have fun and try something new,” Nalley said. “Especially if you haven’t done it [ice skating].”
