The BG Puck Classic returned to the SOKY Ice Rink on Saturday, Jan. 31, for its third annual hockey tournament.
According to BG Puck Classic’s Facebook, this event is Kentucky’s only outdoor pond hockey and draft-style tournament. Players ages 16 and up were eligible to register, along with people traveling across the region to join the fun.
The event kicked off the night before, with a showing of “Slap Shot” at The Capitol. Retired NHL player Steve Carlson, who portrayed Steve Hanson in the movie, attended the showing and stayed afterward for a question-and-answer session and a meet-and-greet with fans. Talisman photographer Ella Oakley ventured out both days to capture slides, scores and slap shots firsthand.
