A guide to eating at WKU with dietary restrictions

As a vegan on campus, my meals often consist of rice and beans at the Fresh Food Company or fries from a meal swipe at Chick-fil-A. Though there are vegan-friendly choices, they can be hard to identify. Navigating my options proved to be more difficult than expected. There is a guide provided by the university’s registered dietitian nutritionists, but I’ve found it to be confusing and problematic at times. Here’s an accessible, easy-to-navigate and straightforward guide for those with dietary restrictions. When a diet of fries and fortune cookies get tiring, the map below will tell you what you can eat and where!

Keep in mind that restaurants on campus such as Panda Express often make changes to their dishes, so the most foolproof way to eat with a dietary restriction on campus is to ask an employee what ingredients are used.

Gluten-free and vegetarian options are listed separately, and vegan options are marked with an asterisk (*).
